The
best time to align a finder is during daylight hours. This is when landscape
objects are easily seen. Daylight, however, makes red alignment images
difficult to see. By holding a neutral-density filter behind the finder
both the land based object and red image will both be easily seen. This has
worked well for both the Telrad and Rigel Systems finders.
